Perry is she is Chicago native who was she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. One of her first TV appearances were Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother portrayed the character. Because of their fear of stress, the parents didn't want to see the actress pursue acting until she reached the age of age 18. Perry says she didn't want to perform in high school but decided to take up performing as a form of social interaction while at Northwestern University when she switched from Boston University. Perry started her acting career as an actress in New York after graduation, performing in minor parts on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. But homesickness made Perry return to California to work as a stage actress. She performed on Broadway in The Other Place with her mother in 2013. In the year 2015, she was together with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry appeared in nine episodes of The Family, an ABC crime thriller The Family in 2016. In 2017, she played a recurring role on the ABC Political thriller Scandal which starred her father. That same year she played a young character based on Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon (a CBS spinoff The Big Bang Theory) as her mother as a young version. She was cast in the role by auditioning for an open role despite being a fan of the role.
